Acer palmatum 'Crimson Queen'

acerCrimsonQueen.jpg

This is probably one the most common dissectum grown in America. Introduced in 1965 it has become the standard in which red lace leaf maples are judged. It can tolerate full sun but it prefers a few hours of shade out of the hot afternoon sun. The growth is very pendulous and forms a low mound gradually gaining height as it matures to about 4’ tall and almost twice as wide. It can be grafted low for a nice low mound look or up high on a standard for an umbrella look.
