A species of pine that is native to the mountains of Macedonia,
Bulgaria, Albania, Montenegro, and Kosovo. The mature sizes in these areas are up to 35–40 m height. Although a tall
pine in its native area over here the growth habit is rather small in fact Mr. Klein called this a true dwarf White Pine.
Resistant to white pine blister rust and is of great value for research into hybridisation and genetic modification to develop
rust resistance, hybrids with eastern white pine inherit some resistance. A popular ornamental tree in parks and large gardens,
it has very slow growth. It is very tolerant of severe winter cold.
