Tsuga canadensis 'Cavehill 1'

CaveHill 1 is a slow growning dwarf cultivar found in Cavehill Cemetery in Louisville Ky. It was found in a grove of canadian hemlocks and is so old that no recornds have been found on it. Chris Summers took cuttings from this plant in the late 80s and those plants grow about 3 inches a year and are curently about 3 feet in height after 25 years. The original plant is about 20 feet tall and probably over 120 years old.
